Every dog needs activities that work their body and mind to stay happy and healthy. Just like the sled dogs in Alaska, your dog can learn directional commands and pull you around here Knoxville. This is awesome for high energy and high drive dogs to help them have an outlet for all that energy.
Supplies Needed:
- Standard Leash
- Treat Pouch
- High & Low Value Treats
- Joring Tow Line
- Joring Belt
- Joring Harness
- Paw Wax or Booties
Lesson 1: Selecting Gear and “Leave It”
Make sure your dog has all the right gear to get started. Also learn an important skill, “Leave It,” you will need it if your dog ever runs after something while mushing.
Lesson 2: “Left” and “Right”
Learn how to read a trail and get your dog to go the direction you say.
Lesson 3: “Hike”
Teach your dog how to pull weight and pick up speed. Also, learn how to properly condition your dog to pull weight.
Lesson 4: “Whoa”
Don’t rely on just your brakes, teach your dog how to stop on command.
Lesson 5: Review all commands and skills
Get extra help with anything you are struggling within put all your commands to use on the trail.

- No retractable leashes
- Proper equipment required
- Give your classmates space and always ask before allowing your dog to interact
- Respect your dog's limitations
- No aggressive dogs (ask about private lessons)
